There's NO Such Thing As Free Lunch

posted Monday, 9 February 2009

Last week, after much procrastination, I ordered Nutrasystem.  My plan was to come to Miami, do Nutrasystem, work out like crazy and drop the 50lbs that I had gained over the past yr.   I finally got the stuff and after taking inventory and realizing that there was some extra food (and reading the information), I realized that my free week of food was included in the package.  Of course, it was random stuff I would never choose for myself.  I mean, I would not eat a granola bar for lunch...what kinda foolishness is that?!  I also would not eat black bean and spit pea soup (2 different soups!).  Yuk-a-rama!  I guess I can't complain, after all...I get what I pay for...so what the hell, I'll try it.

Given that it's already Monday and I ordered a pizza, I'll start NS on Sunday of next week.  Of course, it's gonna take me the rest of the week to eat the pizza, my leftover fruity pebbles, and the chocolates that I have spread all over the place.  The good news, I won't have to cut out my favorite beverages (Pepsi Max and iced tea).  So far, it seems rather easy...eat the pre-packaged meals, add fruits, veggies, and dairy.  Do some moderate exercise and it'll work.  We'll see...if anyone can mess up a diet plan, it's definitey ME!

So far, the move to Miami has been pretty uneventful.  I've settled into my apartment and I've found things to give me the basic comforts.  I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I would never have chosen this apartment as a permanent domicile.  It's just TOO small!  The amount I pay in mortgage, I have about 1300 more square feet.  Did I mention that I ran into the gate that I park behind?  Yeah...trying to miss the driver's side, I got paint all over my passenger's side.  A dear friend howled hysterically in my ear while calling me clumsy.  He was right!

The new job is great.  I'm surrounded by extremely smart people who talk about the pharmacokinetics of prescription drugs, p-values, and confidence intervals.  Yes, I did bring in my statistics books.  At least I can contribute to the conversation...today I said that we should choose a random sample...lol.  Seriously though, all that I've learned through this time in school, I'm finally putting it into practice.  Sometimes it actually makes sense!  I am enjoying the great weather and the laid back staff...but the drivers in Miami are inherently insane!  They're on the phone, running down pedestrians, and cutting off other drivers (no turn signals either).  Of course, that's not much different than Atlanta, but at least Atlanta drivers show some southern hospitality...lol.

At any rate, I look forward to heading to the beach soon...just gimme 5 more degrees of warmth!
